THE suspected attacker by the age of 39- was killed  at Paris’ Orly airport on Saturday soon after attempting to sneak away with a soldier’s weapon that had previously appeared on authority radars for potential Islamic extremism. Paris prosecutors stated that the suspect’s house was one of those searched in November 2015 in the quick aftermath of suicide bomb-and-gun attacks that murdered 130 people in Paris. Those searches focused on individuals with alleged radical tendencies.

A French official involved in the investigation verified the French media reports which identified the attacker as Ziyed Ben Belgacem. After the investigation, the attacker’s father and brother were brought in for questioning. A source near the police, called him a “radicalized Muslim”– but did not specify his name, according to Reuters. The Defense Minister of France, Jean-Yves Le Drian, stated that the attacker had inflicted harm on three Air Force soldiers who were watching over the airport. He explained that the soldier that was being attacked was able to hang on to her rifle and the two soldiers she was with managed to save her and the others.

Everyone else at the busy terminal was safe thanks to the evacuation of thousands of travelers as well as the flights being diverted to airports in other cities.
French President Francois Hollande stated that investigators will find out who the attacker is and figure out his ” terrorist background and goals.”
Hollande denied any connection between Saturday’s attack and the forthcoming French presidential elections scheduled for April and May, stating that France has been fighting the threat of extremism for many years. Interior Minister Bruno Le Roux claimed the man was associated with stealing a vehicle around 90 minutes before in a northern Paris suburb and that police and intelligence services know his name.

Paris prosecutor Francois Molins has told a news conference that the man who attacked a soldier and was killed by her colleagues at Orly Airport yelled that he wanted to die in the name of Allah and “whatever happens, there will be deaths.” Molins said the attacker held a pistol to the soldier’s head on Saturday morning, used her as a shield and succeeded in a struggle to wrestle away her powerful military-grade assault rifle. He said the attacker apparently aimed to use it to shoot people in the busy Paris airport. He says the attacker, identified by Molins as French-born Ziyed Ben Belgacem, also carried a container of gasoline that he tossed to the ground.

The second suspect in an attack against servicemen at Paris Orly airport has been detained.  The suspect could possibly be the airport staff member, wrote France Info radio station  on its Twitter account. An unknown assailant attacked earlier in the day the servicemen, ensuring security at the airport in the framework of the Operation Sentinelle, who opened fire and killed the attacker. Media reported that 3,000 people had been evacuated from the airport’s southern terminal.
