SINCE Saturday morning more than 500 rockets have been fired at southern Israel. At this point of time 3 Israelis have been killed and several seriously injured, houses and factories have been damaged. As we are  writing this report several rockets are being fired almost every minute. A bus and several vehicles have been hit.

Israel is responding by bombing terror bases and weapons storehouses in Gaza. As usual the media is declaring Israel’s response “disproportionate, “- and they are correct. Until now Israel has responded disproportionate softly in light of the hundreds of rockets that are being fired. Prime Minister Netanyahu is also the Minister of Defense, so he is in fully in charge of the situation. Israel would want a stronger attack by the Israeli tanks and Air Force, but it is a tricky situation, for a number of reasons. One of them is that the Eurovision Song Contest is set to begin on 14 May, and it is very likely that Iran has ordered this rocket barrage, in the hope of the Eurovision being cancelled.

This article from Israel Today sums up the situation very well…

In less than two weeks, Israel will host the Eurovision Song Contest. For our American readers, that might not sound like much of a reason (though, of course, Hamas and its allies will use any excuse to kill a few more Jews), until you realize that Eurovision is among the most-watched annual televised events on the planet, with peak viewer ship reaching as high as 600 million viewers each year. In other words, its a massive stage upon which the terrorists hope to rekindle the international community’s dedication to their violent cause. As such, this past weekend’s rocket barrage could be just the beginning. Already, Hamas and Islamic Jihad are threatening to extend the range of their attacks to Tel Aviv and Ben Gurion Airport, just as millions of contestants and fans are arriving for Eurovision. Caring little for what this will mean for the resident of the Gaza Strip, the situation is likely seen by Hamas as a win-win. Either Israel is too afraid to take any real action, and the rocket attacks entirely disrupt Eurovision, or Israel takes a strong hand in protecting the international event, perhaps even by launching a ground incursion into Gaza, and thereby earning itself another round of global condemnation. Then again, Hamas and Islamic Jihad might be miscalculating. It wouldn’t be the first time.

This time around, the United States under President Trump is going to wholeheartedly back any Israeli military response, no matter how harsh. And, given that Europe is home to Eurovision and that many thousands of Europeans will be in Israel next week, the EU might just break with its policy of phony “even-handedness” and actually follow the American lead in fully backing Israel against its terrorist enemies. There were hints that the EU might go this unprecedented route when on Saturday a spokesman for its foreign policy chief, Federica Mogherini, demanded that Hamas immediately halt all rocket fire at Israel. Such statements usually only come after Israel has returned the favor by wreaking havoc in Gaza, and with a heavy dose of moral equivalence suggesting that Israel is at least partially to blame for the situation.

Either way, Israel is preparing for the worst, and has deployed additional armor to the Gaza border. While Israel might have enough diplomatic backing to actually score a victory, rather than just reach a stalemate, for a fresh Gaza conflagration to overshadow the biggest non-sporting television event of the year will play right into Hamas’ hands, the cost in human lives be damned.

Here is what you can do to help:

1. PRAY – for protection over all the Israeli residents in range of the rockets, including Beersheva and Tel Aviv
2. PRAY – for wisdom and boldness for PM Netanyahu and the military leaders
3. PRAY – that this time Hamas will be defeated and removed from the Gaza Strip
4. Ask your fellowship leaders to get the whole church praying the above
5. Ask your media why they are not reporting the situation honestly ( if you see a report about a pregnant woman and young child being killed in Gaza, make sure the media reports that they were killed by a rocket fired from inside Gaza which fell short of the Israel border.)

Is is also important that your media reports that this latest round of rocket fire began after a very violent day at the Israel / Gaza border on Friday. Snipers hit 2 Israeli soldiers, which caused the IDF to respond, killing 2 Hamas operatives. Then the rockets began.

A documentary of an interview between Saunders and the previous state president PW Botha which the SABC for 25 years refuse to show- can be viewed at the link below:

LAST night the Israeli Prime Minsister Benjamen Natanyahu had  made the following speech in front of the Knessetc:

” To Ismail Haniya, and the leaders and operatives of Hamas:

We, the people of Israel, owe you a huge debt of gratitude. You have succeeded where we have failed. Because never before, in the history of the modern State of Israel, has the Jewish people been so united, like one person with one heart. Everyone in Israel, from Left to Right, secular and religious, in united in the knowledge that there is no accommodating an enemy that is sworn to the genocide of our people. And now, as you continue to launch deadly missiles indiscriminately, intended to maim and murder as many civilians as possible, while you take cowardly refuge behind your own civilians – you continue to inspire us to hold strongly onto our unity. Whatever disputes we Jews may have with each other, we now know that we have one common goal: we will defeat you. But we are offering you now one last chance. Within 24 hours , all rocket fire – and I mean all rocket fire – will cease. Completely. Forever.

I give you formal notice that our tanks are massed at the Gaza border , with artillery and air support at the ready. We have already dropped leaflets over the northern parts of the Gaza strip, warning civilians of our impending arrival, and that they should evacuate southward , forthwith. If you fail to meet our ultimatum, we are coming in , and, with God’s help, this time we will not leave . Every centimeter of land that we conquer will be annexed to Israel , so that there will never be another attack launched at our civilians from there. Even so, we will continue to keep the door open to allow you to surrender gracefully. The moment you announce that you are laying down arms, we will halt our advance, and there we will draw our new borders. If you continue to attack our citizens, we will continue to roll southwards, driving you out of territory that you will never again contaminate with your evil presence.

It pains me deeply that your civilians will be made homeless. But we did not choose this war ; you did . And if our choice is between allowing our citizens to be targeted mercilessly by your genocidal savagery, versus turning your civilians into refugees, I regret that we must choose the latter. If only you loved your people as much as you hate ours, this war would never have happened. To the rest of the world : Israel has tired of your ceaseless chidings that we should “show restraint”. When you have your entire population under constant missile fire from an implacable enemy whose stated goal is the murder of every man, woman and child in your land, then you may come and talk to us about “restraint”. Until then, we respectfully suggest that you keep your double standards to yourselves. This time, Hamas has gone too far, and we will do whatever we have to in order to protect our population. Hamas, once again, I thank you for bringing our people together with such clarity of mind and unity of purpose. The people of Israel do not fear the long road ahead. Am Yisrael Chai
